South Staffordshire Athletics NetworkEstablished in July 2009, the South Staffordshire Athletics Network (SSAN) is one of over fifty national athletics networks set up by Engalnd Athletics with the support of McCains.
SSAN is a partnership of athletic and road running clubs working alongside other partners and sporting bodies to improve the sport at a local level.

Come and train with an Olympian!!!
Are you training and preparing for a Spring Half Marathon or Marathon?
As previously mentioned Paul Evans has kindly agreed to come up to Staffordshire to do a running session to support runners training for marathons on our lovely Cannock Chase.
The details are;

(Meet on grass area near the outdoor bbq's! - next to the play area at 10:15am)
The session will be a circuit on grass paths, including a few hills! and lasting until about 12.
Then afterwards- approx 1pm at St Leonards Sports and Social Club (home of Stafford Harriers) for Question and Answers and support for your training and preparation from Paul.
ALL ABILITIES WELCOME (the session will be split into groups - please don't be put off by Paul taking the session!! He is a great personality to meet and welcomes everyone)
Paul is most well known of winning the 1996 Chicago Marathon at the age of 35 in 2:08.52.
He ran in the 10,000m final in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and also the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
In 1996 he was 2nd in the Great North Run and 3rd in the London Marathon.
Paul launched our network with a session 3 years ago and was a huge hit with many people still remarking on his personality and a very inspirational, motivational guy able to speak to all abilities. We very much look forward to seeing him soon.
We welcome everyone to this session - whether to one / both parts, to take part or to come to Stafford to listen to Paul speak.

In order for us to ensure the session meets your aims and allow us to give Paul some prior information to organise everyone into groups(ish!) it would be helpful to know your racing target / time/ ability please. Then send cheque for £5.00 per session made payable to Stafford Borough Council (our host agency) to SSAN/ SASSOT c/o Stafford Borough Council, Civic Center, Riverside, Stafford ST16 3AQ.
