About Us
Athletics Networks are clusters of athletic clubs working strategically with other local key partners to develop the sport of athletics in local areas.
McCain Athletics Networks seek to drive up the quality of coaching, links with community groups such as schools, competition in clubs (inter and intra club) and also seek to develop the all round quality of provision within clubs in the network.
The ethos behind McCain Athletics Networks is all about working in partnership to improve the provision of athletics in the area.
The Network was formally launched on 10th November 2009 at the MRI Club, home of Stafford Harriers. Here, John Graves - Chair of England Athletics - presents SSAN with a cheque for the initial funding of the Network.

The aim of the network is:
To develop the sport of athletics by constituent clubs working together, sharing experience, know-how, developing new ideas, projects and by working with partner organisations to these ends.
Our objectives are:
- To grow and sustain participation levels in the sport
- To improve the quality of experience for all participants
- To improve levels of athletic performance
- To lay the foundations for the next generation of champions
- To establish sustainable club environments
